“Bleeding” is inspired by a mural painting in a historic house in Kashan, Iran. The excerpt of a mural painting on the wall of Boroujerdiha House depicts a faceless portrait of a woman in the middle of floral and colorful motives.
I took a photo of this mural painting when I was visiting Kashan. This photograph is printed, and scanned again and again. In the process, the characteristics of the printer and scanner- faulty sensors and print-heads, noise and compression – kept changing the motif and eroding its information until all that was left was an abstract pattern of primary colors.
